METALLIC SILHOUETTE is a new shooting style to the Ballarat Pistol Club and has been embraced by a good number of members with more becoming interested in trying it out. This match has targets set at varying distances and using different 'silhouettes' for each one - chickens, turkeys, rams, pigs. The chickens are set back to 25 yards and the pigs are set to 50 yards and so forth and as are scaled in sizing for the distances they can be very difficult to hit. Concentration and steadiness are needed here and shooters have a time limit of 2 minutes for each set of five shots. Metal silhouette is very popular in the United States and has taken off very well in Australia with many clubs around the country now shooting it or looking at starting up. Brent Squires takes careful aim on the targets.
Large calibre handguns are well suited to this match with revolvers and semi-automatics from .38 up to .45 calibre being the most popular and the best for cleanly knocking down the heavy metal silhouettes.
..............Bill Goodwin concentrates hard to knock down those 'annoying pigs'.
